>Abraham’s blessings: Not how good Abraham is, but how good God is

[Because He is already blessed]- he is not poor

>Justice: If you do right you will be blessed–reward

Grace: He doesn’t do anything but the Lord blessed him

>Abraham remembering his limitations:

1. “I will make you into a great nation”– age (75 years old), no child, Sarai is barren

2. “I will bless you”– God asked him to leave

3. “I will make your name great” — Where am I right now?

>Genesis 15

Verse 1: God assuring Abraham

Verses 2-3: Abraham doubted God’s ability

Verse 4: God reassured him

Verse 5: God gave him object illustration

SOMETHING TO CHANGE ME: Ptr. Chinkee Tan

You can listen to the podcast through this link: Crave  (Title: SOMETHING TO CHANGE ME: Ptr. Chinkee Tan)

> Jeremiah– a weeping prophet. Speaks to a nation who are already perverted. Declares war against false prophets. God spoke to him to speak the word of God. Why? Because when we do or speak against the word of God, God’s heart is hurt (God disciplines those He loves)

pervert– know the truth but distorted or twist the word of God to their advantage or benefit

-Making scripture the gospel of comfort

>If you are not deeply rooted in the word of God or don’t know the truth: You will be living in fear

>Before you believe in something  or prophecy, it should be in line with the word of God

1. False prophecy or false advertising

2. Syncretism (False religion)- mixing beliefs of Jesus into folklore or tradition

Example: God gives the ability to produce wealth- not to open business in July (July=7), but in August (August=8)

3. False belief- Gospel of comfort

Example: “Come to Jesus and be blessed”, “”It’s okay to sin as long as you love God.”

4. New age (False teaching)- Believing in the power of yourself

Example: David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17:41-47)

David- Put his faith in God

Goliath- Puts his faith in himself

Other example:

1. “God helps those who help themselves”- Apart from me, you are nothing

2. “Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa”- Trust in the Lord… (Proverbs 3:5-6)

>Filter the word of God to know the truth

>Why should  we know the truth? John 8:32- The truth will set you free

Where is the truth? John 14:6- Jesus is the truth…

“Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

>Purpose of fire:

1. It gives light (Psalm 119:105)- Everything is clear; it gives direction; it keeps from stumbling or falling; eliminates fear

2. It purifies (2 Timothy 3:16-17)- removes wrong mindsets

3. It penetrates (Hebrews 4:12)

4. It destroys (Jeremiah 23:29)- idols, beliefs in our lives

-Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks= It reveals the condition of your heart

-there are lifestyles God wants to burn to build something that is new (Ezekiel 36:26)

HOLINESS OF GOD: Ptr. Jeff Dacumos

>Standard

-You cannot do anything you want

-Meant for protection and enjoy it

>Where do you base your standards? Holiness of God

>Holiness of God– He is great, He is set apart, He is pure, He is perfect, He is incomparable

-We conform into the image of God, not vise versa

>Idea of God

1. God’s greatness- commune with God and thank Him for His greatness

[Isaiah 6:2-4]– angels are sinless but covered everything because they are facing God

2. God’s provision (v. 7)- God Himself is declaring Isaiah is being freed from impurity

>”And your sin atoned for” — sins are cleansed because of what He is about to do (Coming of the Messiah)

>Letting God purify is may be painful but it is needed so that we can truly represent a pure and holy God

>Ultimate standard: Live a  holy life

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;  for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16
