HOLINESS OF GOD: Ptr. Jeff Dacumos

>Standard

-You cannot do anything you want

-Meant for protection and enjoy it

>Where do you base your standards? Holiness of God

>Holiness of God– He is great, He is set apart, He is pure, He is perfect, He is incomparable

-We conform into the image of God, not vise versa

>Idea of God

1. God’s greatness- commune with God and thank Him for His greatness

[Isaiah 6:2-4]– angels are sinless but covered everything because they are facing God

2. God’s provision (v. 7)- God Himself is declaring Isaiah is being freed from impurity

>”And your sin atoned for” — sins are cleansed because of what He is about to do (Coming of the Messiah)

>Letting God purify is may be painful but it is needed so that we can truly represent a pure and holy God

>Ultimate standard: Live a  holy life

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;  for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16

>Thrive– to grow, to develop, to flourish, to prosper

>Romans 8:1-4 –In Christ, there is freedom

-Romans Chapters 1-7– Letter to teach them in their foundations

-Condemned– To judge against, to damn (bring ruin) forever

A. Old testament: Sodom and Gomorrah

B. New testament: Manifest when Jesus Christ died on the cross

>Someone made the impossible possible for us

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21

-its as if you fulfilled/ completed the law

-you enjoy the reward/ benefits

>(v.4) Life of no condemnation= life in the Spirit of God

>Struggle in the desires of the flesh against Spirit

For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Galatians 5:17

>(v.20)– desires of the flesh: sexual immorality, impurity, quarelling, selfish ambition, envy, lustful pleasures, idolatry, jealousy, division, drunkenness, sorcery, hostility, outbursts of anger, dissension, wild party

>(v.22)– living according to the Spirit of God: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control

>We thrive when we live a life without blame that leads to a life without blemish= Let the Holy Spirit lead us in every part of our lives
